NET METERING

Net metering is simply a credit system where the excess electricity produced by your solar PV system this month is fed back to your power provider (ex. Meralco) to be deducted to your bill next month

Under Republic Act no. 9513: Renewable Energy Act of 2008, end users are allowed to install a solar PV system not exceeding 100 KW capacity on their establishment so that they can generate electricity for their own use. Power providers are required to buy excess electricity produced by these establishments from their solar PV systems thru a process called net metering.

This process is commonly used on grid-tied PV systems. Net metering replaces the need for batteries to store the generated electricity. This system is beneficial for consumers that leaves their establishment at day while it generates and exports electricity to the gird, then they come back at night and imports electricity from the grid.
